Let's look at the star of the show
Hathkargha
Handloom in hindi means Hathkargha, which is the entire motive behind the expo at the Handloom Haat in Delhi
“Hathkargha” refers to the art of hand-weaving in India, a craft deeply ingrained in the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
Inside the handloom haat you will find hathkargha sarees, shawls and various other traditional Indian clothing items.
Mr. Rajinder Prakash showed me how the entire Hathkargha thing works and I found it to be an awesome machine.
Hathkargha requires a lot of patience and skill, kudos to the people who weave entire clothing sets with this weaving machine.
From December 1 to 8, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has organized a handloom expo at Janpath Market. It involves around 75 traditional clothing shops from around the nation coming together at one place to show off their artistry.
Entry fee: free
Although the handloom expo keeps going on for the entire year, I believe the shops are changed inside the expo in turns.
This may be the reason you are seeing a lot of handloom haat expo dates.
The place is a different vibe in contrast with the market. Where the market holds noise, crowd and vibrancy the expo holds silence, people chilling individually, slow classical music and kulhad wali chai with some fritters.
At the expo you will find various designer shawls, stalls, paintings, suits, banaras sarees, pure silk dupattas and some rich people too lol.
Designer winter Jacket from the expo
Stall Number: 46
Their stall has a variety of designer winter jackets with various price range.
Pashmina Shawls, Suits made with 100% naturally derived fabrics excellent to provide you warmth.
Artists Assemble
Each one of these painting costed around 2000-2200 which I think is pretty reasonable with respect to the effort put in them. If I had more time I would spend another hour looking at these wonderful paintings in awe.
So that was all at the Handloom Haat, hope you enjoyed my blog and I really would like to know if you visited this place.
